    [Dead] WorkCentre 5890

    Hey all,

I have a WorkCentre 5890 that is giving a message on it that says waiting to print, no matter which type of print job; copy, scan- print, print from PC,...

I have been looking at it and the Fuser is Ice cold even after being on for several minutes.

What could cause this type of issue?

I am getting no faults or error messages about the fuser or anything else, other than the waiting to print message.

    Thanks in advance.

Update: Some of the fault codes I am getting in the fault history log include, 311.198.00 - 311.377.00 - 303.777.00 & 383.190.00

NOTE these are not showing up on the screen as faults, just in the history.

A bad fuser has been known to cause this problem. I would give that a try.

This is a problem caused by software. Most likely you have a paper jam or one of your jam sensors is detecting paper present (separate the machine from the finisher, that's a common area that causes this). Once you clear the jam or fix the sensor problem, the machine should warm up. The software is supposed to tell you that there is a jam condition but does not report it as such. If you power the machine off and on without clearing the jam, the machine will indicate warming up but the fuser will stay cold and the machine will stay in this condition forever until the jam is cleared.

I suggest you download the newest SPAR software for the 5890. I don't think they have a release software that has all the fixes for this problem yet. I know they have gone through a number of software versions so far in an attempt to correct this. I see your problem most often if they have a HVF installed.

When you upgrade the software, i suggest you do a forced altboot and don't use a clone file, reprogram it from scratch.

I've been dealing with this exact problem since September. A school system in my area upgraded all their copiers with 5890s last year and it's taken till just about a month or 2 ago to finally get them working correctly (because of software).

        Good luck.

          THank you Exoc and Flash.

I will check out the things you both told me to try and get back with result.

I was also leaning towards a fuser issue, but could not understand why it was not giving an error message

            GOT it!!!

            Thanks Exoc!!!

            It was exactly this issue.

Had a piece of paper stuck in the Finisher (HVF) right where it comes from the copier.

            Really appreciate it.
