[Dead] Xerox 8825 - bad Controller harddrive

    Hi all,
I have a Xerox 8825 wide format copy machine with an attached EV4 controller that I am trying to coax back to life. I have the service manual, and after running a variety of tests I have determined that the hard disk on the controller needs to be either replaced or recovered. Is it possible to replace the whole controller with another?Am I totally out of luck without the Accxes Service CD? Am I totally out of luck with a machine this old in general?

I normally work with duplicators, and this is my first project with a xerox and wide format so any direction is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

AccXES Controllers can be a pain in the ____ to work with... They require alot of Licensing, you can reinstall the OS but they require Activation Keys to get eveything to work. You will need these keys when reinstalling the OS but will have "give up" the old ones to Xerox and they will issue you "NEW" ones. They are generally located on the right hand side of the Wide Format Door when you open it.

    I hope this helps you..

      Hi Joe!
Thanks for the information. My experience in general working with this copier has been a little more frustrating than the duplicators - so this is unsurprising to me.

Will I be able to replace the key as an unlicensed xerox tech or will that be an issue too?

      Thanks again!
      George

        Hi George,

        Your welcome..

I think you should be able to get "new" keys or as Xerox calls them Coupon Codes..

        See the below link:

You still have the old coupon ids, right? Again look for a sticker on the right side of the door of the wide format.

Thanks for the link - I will double check the door when I get back to the machine tonight.

It occurs to me that I might actually be reading this incorrectly.

          The POST errors I am getting are: 01, 08, 0a, 0c, 06, 23, 40

01, 08, 0a, 0c, 06, 23 all tell me to run the FRU - I did that and everything seems to pass, but 40 reads:

          Recover Hard drive,
          go to Recovering the Hard
          Drive.
          Replace Main Controller
          PWB, go to REP 1.5.

I have been reading that as recover hd, and if that doesn't work replace main controller - but is it actually the case that I need to do both?

          my apologies for being dense!

          George

You first must check the hdd for bad sectors.
            Very rare main pwb defective.

Unfortunately there does not appear to be a coupon sticker inside the door. I found a serial number and the clicker - but no key sticker.

There is no way to get around activation for printing?

What a headache this thing is...

                Thanks!

Not really. Those coupon codes are what activates the features and the OS on the controller so it will print.

Yup these machines with controllers are never fun.
