Re: xerox wc 6505n REPLACE TRANSFER UNIT
First, follow the steps in the user manual. Transfer belt reset is on page 225.
Here is a link to the manual via xerox.com : http://www.support.xerox.com/support...ntentId=121958
I've heard of a problem when the transfer unit counter wont reset. I hear doing a software upgrade fixes it.
Here is a link to xerox.com's latest software release for your machine.

Re: xerox wc 6505n REPLACE TRANSFER UNIT
apparently my head tech talked to someone who did.It seems like you need to initialize the dtb waste after installation....which i did. stiill no go. Aside from checking voltages which we could not do because of no Service manual we did everything correct. Im not sure how it could be a bad transfer unit with only one patch sensor on it. I had a feeling that maybe the varistor on the right hinge maybe bad. I had no reisistance or continuity.
I just dont know how to reset the Replace Transfer unit message. must be an NVM value. I could not find any parameter setting other than the dtb waste. Stumped. btw... it was a customer supplied transfer unit. probably an ebay deal.Comment

Re: xerox wc 6505n REPLACE TRANSFER UNIT
Eric, I'll be sending you a manual (pdf) hopefully tomorrow. 60 mgs. If you need anything in the manual, just call. But the belt reset procedure is not there. It does say to to a reset after installation. The reset procedure for the fuser is there however. Mr. J evidently found the same belt reset procedure that is @ Xerox.com, but it still won't reset. Strange that it's not in the manual - at least we couldn't find it.

Re: xerox wc 6505n REPLACE TRANSFER UNIT
Press Machine Status button
Tools - Admin settings - Service Tools - Reset transfer Unit.
Sometimes dont work if the firmware is lower than 2.00.06 so the solution is to upgrade the firmware.Comment

Re: xerox wc 6505n REPLACE TRANSFER UNIT
You can download the user manual from xerox.com
Here is the section I was talking about:
Resetting the Transfer Unit
The print meter keeps a count of the pages processed by the Transfer Unit. As the page count nears the
end of life for the transfer unit, a message appears to warn you to replace it soon. After the transfer unit
is replaced, reset the transfer unit so that the printer has an accurate page count for the new unit.
To reset the transfer unit:
1. At the printer control panel, press the Machine Status button.
2. Touch Tools>Admin Settings.
3. Using the keypad, type the passcode as needed.
4. Touch Service Tools.
5. Touch Reset Transfer Unit.
6. Touch Reset>Yes, Reset.
To cancel, touch the X button or select No, Cancel.
7. To return to the Service Tools menu, press the Back arrow. To return to the Services Home menu,
press the Services Home button.Comment

Re: xerox wc 6505n REPLACE TRANSFER UNIT
I just ran into this same problem this week. Upgrading the machine software fixed it. With the original software I was able to get into the service mode and reset the correct counter but it still did not clear the message. After upgrading the software and going back into service mode and resetting the counter again fixed the problem.
Note*
The software is split into 2 different files, 1 for the print engine and 1 for the controller.
Update both but only the engine software fixes this particular problem.Comment
