I have 3 Xerox WorkCentre 7535 machines, which I decided to 'sweep clean' with a software upgrade using altboot. My method:
- got the latest firmware from Xerox.com
- made a UB stick with altboot folder and placed the DLM file and a file named FORCED_UPGRADE in it
- started the machine and waited for the software upgrade to start
On all 3 machines, this seemed to work fine, software upgrade started, after 15 minutes or so finished, and then the machines rebooted and 'HD encrypting' started. Here is where the troubles are:
- on 1 machine HD was encrypted (I'd say in 20 minutes or so?) and it rebooted fine with the new software installed
- on 1 machine HD encryption starts but just hangs, after 4 hours it's still busy, and when rebooting it just starts and hangs again
- on 1 machine HD encryption starts, seems to finish, but then the machine reboots and it starts encrypting the HD again, this loop goes on forever.
I have even switched HD's between machines but it does not seems to make any difference at all. I've also tried other software releases but the problem remains exactly the same. I'm desperate now because I have 2 useless machines. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
