[Dead] Colorqube 9201 - CBC vs SBC USB ALTBOOT?

Hey Guys!

I killed my drives in my 9201. It's a CBC machine without a conversion to SBC.

Can I reload the firmware on this guy via ALTBOOT USB (FORCED_UPGRADE) Method? Does the .dlm file from the Xerox support site for the CBC version hook me up?

The unit is a CBC 9201 now with no version on the drives.

I figured out you have to hit 8 or 9 at the machine status light to get it to boot to altboot.

How long does it usually sit at upgrading? It's been an hour now. I used the latest CBC 9201 firmware from the Xerox website.

I did throw in a set of matching Seagate 80GB replacement drives... should i have wiped them first?

Is it possible the usb port has been disabled using PWS?

I tried the same stick in a 9301 with a correct firmware and it fired right up. The 9301 is a SBC of course...

I have my old 9.2 laptop, just haven't connected it yet.

After 2 - 3 minutes the upgrade must begin.
Try another usb stick.

Hey! Thanks for the help Adrian!

Turns out these early non tag 6 machines only support USB 2.0 sticks, not USB 3.0. Even though we only tried Kingston sticks... no go with 3.0.

Our 9300 series ColorQubes read 3.0 sticks just fine.

P.S. For anyone else reading this thread in the future... The Xerox website firmware .DLM files reload the machine from a blank hard drive just fine. A non-Xerox over-sized blank hard drive at that.
