    Riso GR3770 clamp error/master mis-feed

    Hi,

A friend's riso keeps giving a clamp error message and the few times you can actually reset it to make a new master, the master roll misfeeds down in between some rollers instead of correctly feeding under the scanner table. Photo attached as my description is probably full of terminology errors!

Any tips on how to fix it?

When you load the master roll make sure it's cut straight and lined up correctly. The flanges must not be tapered with.
Make sure the roll sits level.
Make sure there print head is clean and that the cutter is working normally. It should be something simple in the path Riso machines are actually fun to take apart. Look at things like cut scrap stuck in the path and roller pressure.

If it feeds the master does it clamp on the drum correctly?
    Whatever

We had a good look through the path and made sure stuff was lined up correctly. It managed to cut a couple strips after re-loading the master roll a couple times. The error was happening once you pressed the make master button. It would mis-feed and give the error before the master got as far as the drum clamp.

We didn't try cleaning the head, maybe that is a good thing to try next. Should I use any chemicals or just a clean dry cloth?

You mentioned roller pressure, what exactly do I need to do to make sure that is correct?

      Thanks for your help.

Alcohol on cotton should do the job, I would not trust any chemicals on there.

If the rollers does not press with the same force on both ends it could skew the wax paper.
        Whatever

Thanks Allan. I thought you were talking about the pressure roller under the drum but I guess you're talking about the rollers that feed the master roll, right? I'll check to see if they're even when we take another look at the machine next week.

          Thanks!

            Hey,
You could also go into service mode and activate the master cutter several times to see if it fires every time. I haven't needed to replace a master feed roller very often but it does happen.

This is normal operation of the machine. The area the master material is descending into is called the stocker, and the machine feeds the master down there to prevent it from wrinkling while it is being applied to the drum.
Do you know what the error code is, and what successfully reset it?
If possible, a picture of the clamp on the drum would be helpful, too.

Check the orientation of the drum if it is in home position exactly, this is common error in Riso GR models, the misfeed during master clamping because the drum is not in his home position, check the drum drive on the back there is a sign on the drive gear if it is on the proper position you can adjust it by loosing the drive belt and manually return the teeth of the gear to the home position. hope it will help
