    Risograph problems

    Hi,

I have recently purchased a Risograph TR1510, when I went to use it the other day I started to copy the master when suddenly the machine stopped working.

The screen is now showing "E13" with a red light on the spanner icon.

Can anyone help ressolve the problem?

    Many Thanks,

    Wayne

Cutter motor is locked up. To reset the code you simply pull out the drum and push it back in. However, if the cutter is still jammed up the code will just return.

I have just tried this, it went ok for ten seconds and then came up with error 13 again :-(

What is the cutter motor - does that cut the master or something?

      Any other suggestions???

      Thanks,

      Wayne

Yes, it cuts the master. It needs to be repaired or replaced.

          Are they cheap to replace?

Are there any engineer manuals that show how to repair them?

          Thanks for your help.

You may have to return the cutter to home (open) position manually once you remove the cutter. I have rarely had to replace the cutter units in the TR/CR lines for mechanical issue (usually replaced for blade problems - stamped metal, not drop forged), but it does happen. Let me know if you need one, I have some reconditioned cutter units from my days with RISO.

                      E-13

There may be a small sliver of master material stuck in your cutter area. If you can find the cutter and take the front cover off the machine there is a small plastic philips scress on the cutter unit by the motor that you can use to put it back into home position. I hope that you did not pay a lot for the machine. It is not my favorite Riso ever built.
