    gr3770 alignment - Service Manual?

I have mostly been working with my paper feed and getting it refreshed with new parts and better alignment. I have the Technical Manual and Parts Manual, but there does not appear to be a true Service Manual available. Am I missing something?

My prints are 7/8" off from where they need to be at the leading edge. the 3/8" adjustment leaves me being just 1/2" off. The 600DPI Gr3770 doesn't have all the adjustments listed for the master length. I'm guessing the leading edge of the master is too long, and I don't know how to change this.

The adjustments listed in the memory settings are for the 300/400DPI models. None of the issues are with the postscript rip computer as this problem exists equally from masters made off the glass.

Is the only adjustment I can make the ones dealing with the timing roller and cam?

    Registration on a GR-3770

If your lead edge registration is off on this machine there are a few ways to get it where it needs to be. I would first check the Cam in the back of the machine. It is the one that drives the sector gear which drives the timing and guide rollers. There are two screws that you can loosen to adjust your registration. If you move the cam to the left it will move your image close to the lead edge, and if you move it to the right it will move your image away from the lead edge. There is a slight chance that the machine is out of time. If you adjust the cam and can not get your image to line up then I would check your timing marks to make sure that the machine is in time. I hope that this helps.

Help from LH(techathens), Elle and you joelsa12 has aided me in fixing my problems. My leading edge is perfect now. I had messed with the one cam, and not tried enough on the second cam. Timing for all parts right there at the end of the main motor assembly were off. Image shrink is noticed now, but I hardly care. I'll take care of that another day.

The cam(011-11240-309) for the timing roller is set to the brink of causing paper jams and then back a touch. The cam(002-11220-007) for the guide roller is perfect to the leading edge of the paper. That deep set guide roller cam is amazing. Tricky when you use too much or too little force though.

The range adjustment for the p disk is questionable. It was set all the way to the largest amount at the factory. There is a large gap between where it is set and the first mark. Machine works though.

The pressure sensor disk(011-11255-004) and p disk(019-11235-001)are set at their punched mark in line with the sensor when the green drum light is on. Seems correct to me.

My new feed pads from www.image-parts.com are helping too. They were the only online seller I found that had prices and availability at the same time. you have to use the status bar in your web browser to see the part number come up while searching. (yes, that was a shout out to another helper)

I hope this thread will come in handy to those who at least have the parts list.
