How to tell if Riso Ink has gone bad?

I finally got a red riso drum for my RP3105, and it came with red ink, but when I removed the cartridge it had that kinda clear/yellow oil leak out with it. I had some red ink cartridges unused that I bought a few years ago, and put that in place of the one it came with. It worked for some test runs on the drum, but when I pulled the cartridge back out, it had the same clear/yellow oil looking stuff leak out, and when I looked inside the top of the cartridge, it appeared like the ink was thin, and didn't have that stiff peak that the ink usually has.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about haha, I'm just wondering if that is normal and safe to use, or if I need to re order new ink?

    Thanks y'all.

RISO ink has a shelf life of two year from date produced. Newer ink tubes have the production date on them.
      Good luck.

2 years is the max and the newest Risos will let you know that the ink IN the machine is nearing the 2-year mark.
When it goes bad, it's kind of like paint you left in your garage, the various liquids start to breakdown and separate.

FYI, almost all duplicator ink are oil based. The yellow oil leakage means that the ink has started to separate. That is a clear indication that the ink is either too old or has been stored at either too hot or too cold as temperature.
