[Dead] Riso RC 6300 // Motor problem?

    Hello forum,

we bought a pretty cheap Riso RC 6300 3 months ago - and it worked ok until a few weeks ago. I will try to explain the problem as good as a can - we are Riso newbies!

From the moment we got it the machine sometimes showed T-1 or T-4 error codes - but it always worked after a reset. So we thought we can live with it.

One time one fuse (125V 8A, I think J27) was blown and the motor stopped working, but there were no further problems after replacing the fuse. We printed at least 60 masters with 50-70 copies each with no problems.

The I noticed there was an old master stuck around the wheels at the masters disposal box. I believe due to that there was also ink inside the machine. I managed to remove the old master somehow.

Nevertheless now the big problem began: Now, when the machine is turned on, it seems everything is ok - no error messages. But if we either try to make a new master - or if we push the green button on the right side of the drum unit - the whole machine turns off for a short moment - the display gets dark - and after 1 second it turns back on again. There is no fuse blown doing this.

On the rear side of the machine there are several red LEDs burning. I will post 2 pictures in the next post.

I think it either has to do with the power supply or the motor is dead. Or do you have any other idea?
If you have any useful hints what could be the problem and if there is a way to fix it, we would be glad to hear!

(we tried to get a technician to look at the machine - but the only company in our area we know of refused to come because the machine is too old :-( )

Thanks a lot for your support!

    Fabian

    Here are the LEDs

I hope you can identify the LEDs that are turned on

And, is there a chance we can use spare parts of a RC 5600 for our RC 6300?

Try resetting the machine by holding down the "Reset" key on the right hand side of the control panel while turning the machine on, and see what happens.
Hopefully you replaced the blown fuse with one that has the same specs as the original fuse.
On these old machines, every so often a master will get wound around the rollers leading into the disposal box. That's just the way that it goes. It's pretty easy to remove the upper set of rollers, though.

            Thanks for your reply.

Resetting does not help, we tried this very often.

Actually we replaced the fuse with a slightly weaker one, so this should not cause any harm as it would have blown again if there is too much current (well, at least this is what I thought is correct ;-) )

It does sound like the main motor or power supply is bad, then.
Here's some long shots you might try if you have time (sorry if you've already tried them):
Make sure the voltage from the socket you have the machine plugged into is adequate for the machine and that the socket is wired correctly with a voltage meter.
Check where the power cord plugs into the machine to see if there is a good connection. If you can get your hands on a different power cord, try that too.
Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Re: Riso RC 6300 // Motor problem?

                  hello,

we solved the problem, actually neither the motor nor the power supply were bad.
actually some riso expert i talked to on the phone told me to see if the flap on top of the drum got stuck while the machine tried to remove the master. this sometimes happens when it doesn't turn easily anymore.

so i moved the scanner table to the left and rotated the drum slightly to the right. and this is all that was wrong.
after removing the drum from the machine i put some lube on the moving parts of the flap to make it turn easily again.

so we were lucky it wasn't a total loss of the machine - we were close to buying another riso...

Good deal you got the problem fixed!
That's also kind of weird, the machine usually shows a "T1" error code that can't be easily reset when that happens rather than completely powering off. Although that now explains the "T1" errors you were getting earlier. Sometime if you have a chance you might check that flap to make sure it didn't get bent.
