Oh believe me... Your paying for it as we will be very shortly also.
My wages are about to get a whole lot smaller because of health care reform. My wifes out of pocket is about to double for medical and triple for dental. They have already amended the dental for both our employers. In our case it is the same plan. We lost $900 in benefits and now it has to come out of our pockets. Not counting what else we have pay in our monthly.
News Release: Out here in the great west (AZ) all RICOH techs are about to come IKON techs. We were givin the news a couple of weeks ago about the big change. We have been told that our wages will be adjusted. What that means is totally up in the air. I eagerly await to see and hear what this really means along with my paycheck.

Guest repliedDepends on where you work. Most operators don't care if you have your A&P and pilot's ratings, you have to choose one path. There are some jobs out there that require both, but they won't pay you a whole lot more just because you have all those ratings.Leave a comment:

always ask other techs questions about a new potential move to their company. management always tries to pry away good help with more money.
more money will not always bring a better working enviorment, Xerox always promises a pot of Gold= with hidden strings attached. I would get something in writing on a territory move.
good luck in your search

keep looking!
I apply to other copier companies about every six months or so. I've had several calls from Xerox, AHEM, the consulting company that xerox outsourced all their service to. They offered what would have been about a $2000/yr raise over what I make now, but it was a little hard to get them to say where my territory would be or how well they'd support me. Where I work now, the service manager doesn't complain I'm putting too many parts in machines, or taking too long on calls. As long as customers aren't complaining, they leave me alone to do my job. That's worth a lot to me, but if another company offers me a bigger raise, I'll take the uncertainty that goes with it. You have to take risks to gain rewards.

[QUOTE=ddude;144816]Yes, you can make better money on an assembly line- but to give up all of that independence and excitement for a small increase??? You have to consider the job you do, and the freedom it allows.....?[/QUOTE
I hear what you're saying. I don't think I could do the type of job that requires you punch in and stay at a station again. But you also need to consider with independence comes resposibility and stress. thats alot of stress for 11 bucks an hour. Just saying it's not right.Leave a comment:

Plus there's little skill or talent to selling a copier. I was reading this book "How to sell copiers" and it basically said it's all a numbers game...e.g., call XXX number of people, setup YY number of appointments, equals sell Z number of copiers. My dead grandmother could do that!
Salesslime are usually paid on commission-if they make six figures, it's because they pushed a lot of product-that is good for a dealer-they do not get paid just to sit around. If you dead grandmother could make six figures, why don't you? (hint- I know the answer, and it's the same reason that I don't make six figures- I LIKE being a tech)Leave a comment:

Living where the cost of living is lower helps, but with kids in school you need to do what you need to do. Not so easy to leave the job for the unknown. If it's any consolation, the boss, no matter where you are will try to pay you the minimal amount possible to what the market allows. when times are hard they have the upper hand; when times are fat and people are buying quality employees, all the hard working techs that put time in to keep up with the technology will benefit.Leave a comment:
