DSL and Magic Jack and Faxing

I have a customer that is using DSL with a Magic Jack set up on a stand alone PC and they are having issue faxing some times it works but most of the time it does not.
I tried another phone cable with and with out a DSL filter. They are using a KM pagepro 1390.
I tried a Kyocera 1820 with same basic results.
    Any ideas
    Thanks

Let's just say, If i had 2 knowingly good fax machines, neither of which worked on a Magic Jack, I think I'd have my culprit.
While it's true, I don't have a real "fancy explanation" for the "why", I know enough that a fax machine needs nearly perfect line quality for reliability. I'm fairly certain that doen's come from a Magic Jack from what I've heard.

This end user is apparently so cheap, I'm surprised he's not using homing pigeons to send and receive messages.

Also, in this situation, why not just try setting up the built in fax service pre-bundled with windows -but it likely won't work either.

You are correct. MagicJack is not really designed for faxing, though it can work SOMETIMES. At least that's what they used to say in their FAQ. Apparently they changed their story as seen below.

Do they use the DSL for their computer connections as well? I'm thinking that maybe the combined load on the DSL doesn't allow enough bandwidth for the MagicJack.

This might help out, might not; MagicJack FAQ:

          Question:
Can I send and receive faxes using MagicJack?

          Answer:
          It should work fine.
Plug your fax machine into your magicJack, just as you would normally connect your fax machine to your telephone jack.
IMPORTANT!! If your MagicJack is connected to your computer, make sure that "Normal (Hi-Speed)" is selected. Your fax machine will not work if you have selected "Air Card (3G)".
