    Brother 4100E line problem?

    Hi
Customer has been getting poor results sending faxes for a long while. On activity report Message is poor line condition/memory full. When I pick up reciever I hear static on line,or when I put on speaker I hear the same.Phone company INSISTS line is good,I am not convinced, but not 100%sure machine is not at fault..machine shares a line by way of a split with a credit card terminal.Could this be reason for message.poor line condition/out of memory?75% of faxes work.
    Any help appreciated.Thanks Andy

Temporarily disconnect it and find out.

Your static could be something as easy as a bad wiring connection. I solved one such static issue by going back to the Demarc and checking the line condition there. If the line sounds good at the Demarc with the rest of the wiring disconnected then you've got a poor connection at a junction box somewhere along the way, or perhaps a smashed wire. When I described these possibilities to my enduser he pointed me towards a junction box where there were some 26gg cat5 wires just twisted together. While I was listening I had my enduser wiggle the connections, at which point it dropped out completely. Just soldering those connections took care of it. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Hi
Thanks for reply.I know the wiring including the split were replaced.I Do you think credit card terminal that this is
split with can be the problem?
      Thanks Andy

Disconnect splitter and connect fax at main phone in point if no noise then it is the splitter or the cc terminal.
If you still have interference then disconnect fax and plug a telephone handset into main line in point. If noise is still there then it's obviously a line issue, if not then it's the machine.
