We've successfully replaced the fuser on our machine, but now don't know how to reset the counter. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Reset fuser counter for Brother HL-L6400DW
where did you get the new fuser?
not from A reputable source?
all Brother (genuine) and preferred sellers will include a step by step installation and reset sheet.
did you get one/follow the instructions?
who rebuilt the fuser for you? -
Re: Reset fuser counter for Brother HL-L6400DW
Maintenance mode usually 82, 84 or 88 (Varies on different models in UK) resets life for most things other than drum or toner.
If it is just a laser printer you can normally only do it via the Brother BR maintenance package tool available only to authorised dealers.
You do not get any reset information with fusers as suggested above (Not in the UK anyway, you need to be a dealer to get the tool or have a service manual to find how to enter maintenance mode and which programme to run)
If unable to reset do not worry the printer will still function O.K but with the irritating maintenance showing
Sorry not au fait with U.S model numbers as they sometimes vary from the U.K ones
Hope this helpsComment

Re: Reset fuser counter for Brother HL-L6400DW
Yes, end user. We got it from the above supplier. It says there that it is a genuine part. Maybe they aren't, I honestly don't know. My boss installed it and no one along the way told him he shouldn't. It didn't come with any instructions. I know that it will work without resetting the counter. Just thought someone here might be able to help.Comment

Re: Reset fuser counter for Brother HL-L6400DW
Sorry, guess I should have been more specific. I don't know how to get it into maintenance mode in the first place. All the instructions that I can find do not work with our printer, unless I'm doing something wrong, which honestly is entirely possible. I really appreciate your help.Comment

Re: Reset fuser counter for Brother HL-L6400DW
I have found that old FW version may sometimes prevent execution of code 88. It's also supposed fuser change to be tech not enduser operation.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.Comment
