    [CQ] HP 2840

Complete blank copies in mono or colour. Works ok, no error codes. Toners ok.

Most likely a sticky solenoid on the dev drive assy. While you there also make sure the carousel is aligned evenly.

Toners are in correct position, however, looking into printer with toner removed its not aligned with toner colour in printer. How to re-align?

Have you tried a new black cartridge?
I wasted an entire day and went through three different aftermarket black cartridges on a CM6040 for the very same print defect before a fellow tech found that entire lot of black cartridges had got roasted.
So you might want to try a new OEM black cartridge.
To my everlasting irritation I had to kill off the last carousel machine I worked on as parts were no longer available for it. So it might not hurt to begin budgeting for a replacement for that machine too.

check the shutter for the laser is working correctly. The door should have some tab or projection that will open the shutter when the door is closed. IF ok, then check drum ground and check dc controller connectors. I suspect the laser shutter though if you don't have error message.

I looked at the video and looks like the misalignment may the cause of the problem. I saw another video on the same page that explains why this might be so. take a look. The 2840 and 2820 are the same family.

here is another more visual indepth video
