HP 5500n

Customer had HP Laser Jet 5500n and he couldn't print both side automatically as we know it is impossible with 5500n.

Is it possible to download firmware for 5500nd to 5500n to able to print duplex automatically.

You need this conversion kit from simplex to duplex see as sample ...

You might be able to. From the looks at the link above, the only thing different is the firmware. But I've never personally tried it. I might go try it on a 4600 right now just to see. If I do end up trying it, I'll report back.

I have similar of this kit but do you have last version of firmware for HP 5500nd and I will try uploaded to HP 5500n to see if it works.

Most hp firmware are downloadable free of charge from hp website.

Not advisable to use usb method. use ftp, its simple and i never had problems with this method. usb can be problamatic and can cause hangups . you can also use crossover cable .

By the way. why go through the trouble to buy upgrade kit ect. the cost for that, plus the time, it would be cheaper to use for a used 5500dtn, i would think.

A firmware will not change a non duplex model to a duplex model. Just get a used 5500dn/dtn formatter from a reliable source or get the duplex upgrade kit.

Apparently, the "upgrade kit" is just a new formatter.

Clearly,[ _SuabE_ ] had replied with the solution for this guy request, the upgrade kit, which is essentially the formatter. He said he has this kit and still wants to upgrade with firmware to make it work. This thread should have ended when SUABE posted the solution. Whenever boards or options are replaced and added though, the firmware should be updated.

In defense to your post, you are wrong this time. Did you read his post? He is trying to upload the firmware to make a "5500N to a 5500DN". He did not say he is trying to upload the firmware to a "5500DN formatter or upgrade kit". The original question was:

No, but why would HP let you download something for free to upgrade your printer for the better. One firmware for multiple models in the same series. It's in the board or the dimm. HP 5500 firmware download not found on HP site.

I quite understand that. I think you need to reread my post again. we are saying the same thing. my point is a previous poster showed him it is a hardware fix and not software. later on he said
