    CP5225 colors cut out during second page

    I just posted this thread, but it's coming up weird when I click on it--like no one can reply to it. So I'll try it again...

    On the first page, the colors look fine. On the second page (and every page after) of a multiple page print, the colors just cut out completely. I'm attaching the diagnostics pages. I see this machine doesn't have the copy quality printouts, where it would do one color at a time. Anyway, you can see on the second page where the colors quit.

    I changed each of the cartridges, none of them really seemed to make much of a difference, except the magenta. When I changed that one, the magenta cut out a little sooner than before

      This one's making my mind spin. The colors don't go out and stay out for the remainder of the prints. I didn't realize this before, but #3 print looks the same as #2. #1 print is the only good one, but the colors cut out in the same spots on subsequent prints.

      I wish I had an old transfer unit core to try on this thing, but I don't have many of these machines, and I haven't replaced the transfer on one in over a year.

          Transfer unit didn't work.

          I think I found what's probably the problem. Apparently, these little plastic pieces on the laser shutters break off and cause the lasers to shut out before they're supposed to. I found someone on HP's site who had the problem here:

          Does anyone know of a part # for this, or a way to fix it?

              Well that looks unpleasant to get to. I'll see what I can discover. =^..^=

              EDIT: The manual does not itemize that particular part. Here is the 2400% view of that item painted green for visual clarity.

              I think you'll have the most success with harvesting a spare from a corpse in the boneyard. =^..^=
