[CQ] HP Color LJ CP 3505 Yellow not printing and Black light...

The transfer belt was changed previous to my arrival... I changed the Yellow toner with OEM cleaned the laser lens and still no change. Are the HV power supplies likely to fail on these machines ? Cyan and magenta seem fine Any help is greatly appreciated....

Was it a new transfer belt or refurb? I have trouble with those sometimes. If the black is light, try stopping it in the middle and see if all the black is transferring. I've never had a PS go bad on one of these on me.

Also, do a cold reset, and see what happens after calibration. I can't remember if you can do NVRAM dump or not, but if you can, do so.

I tried to do a cold reset and trying every which way, I could not get the reset to work... Thinking that the formatter board is bad... Don't think customer is going to repair. I would be interested if that actually is the problem...

I would think a laser/scanner would be more likely. Doesn't the black and yellow share one unit, and the cyan and magenta share a unit? I'm going by memory now, and it's been a couple of years since I took those laser units off.

The yellow actualy shows up occasionally like on the demo print. The black looks great on certain prints also. really acting weird. The black and yellow are on the top of the machine and surely have components in common I'm guessing...

you can remove the laser and clean it, The laser is open (no dustproff glass) so toner dust can get on lenses and mirrors. Also check cartridge locks, this series had issues with broken cartridge locks, check drive system for engage/disengage of toner carts.

Do an engine test. It will allow you to isolate the fault between the formatter or the print engine.
