HP Designjet 500 - replace printhead

    Hi all,

I am getting the replace yellow printhead message even though it was only replaced a month ago..
Also was having problems with the inks but got new ones & it has worked ok for a while so the inks must have been faulty.

    Any ideas.

    Kind regards,

    Declan

I would look at the tubes for air. You said the inks were faulty. If air gets into the tubes it will kill a printhead. If you see air in the tubes, get set up heads and purge the lines.

Or get a syringe and do it that way... probably more reliable.

Anyway, don't replace the yellow printhead again until you're sure air is out of the line.

The syringe method is the way to go if the tube assembly is not new.

It's not easy to see that there is air in the tubes on the 500/800. If in doubt I would just replace the tube assembly.
