Color Laserjet CM2320 not picking up

Last month, I replaced the pu motor on this thing because of intermittent jams. It worked fine for all that time.

Yesterday, the customer was getting a "remove packing from cartridge" error. I swapped color cartridges, as suggested in other threads, then swapped them back. The error went away, but now I can't print.

When I print (internal and external--or even an engine test), the developer & drum motors go on, I hear some clicks (probably from the transfer unit), but the pickup motor never engages. It'll keep doing that, the motors starting and stopping, without ever actually giving a jam code.

Solenoid? Main Drive?

There really isn't much that can be replaced on these units. I'd suggest main drive, but, unless you can find a junk machine or someone who has parted one (eBay), the main drive isn't orderable.

I was thinking DC controller, but I really have no idea. Like I said, the actual feed motor (which I replaced a little while ago) isn't turning at all. I can't, from the manual, tell where the drive comes from. These HP manuals are getting worse and worse.

My thought on these is if it looks like a lot of labor and an expensive part its time for a new machine.
The hard part is getting customers to see this and if its on contract well then Id look on ebay for a replacement.

Bringing this up again because I have yet another machine doing the exact same thing. The machine keeps cycling, as it's trying to print, but the PU motor never turns. And it never gives me a jam code--the machine just continues to "cycle"... I hear all kinds of gears and motors turning until I turn it off. Has anyone else seen this?

This has to do with the cartridge lock problem, but that's not the problem I'm having.

Bumping this up to see if anyone found a solution. What was actually happening, was a solenoid in the main drive unit (I think). But I it's in the middle of a giant gear assembly, and I'm too scared to just take it apart.

I've seen three like this in the last year, but the gear assembly wasn't for sale.

Really? It's that bad? Those a re nice little machines. They're getting kind of old though. I remember seeing the main drive assembly at a parts site, but it said it was "refurb" and I believe they just pulled it off an old machine. But I'm hoping someone started actually refurbing them.

I like those machines because the doc feeders take a lot more punishment than most other small volume machines.
