    Hp 4250 /Periodic quality issue

    HI
    I get a black bar across top of print about 1.5 inches wide ,running from side to side of print
    every so often,maybe 1 in 7 or 8 prints.I put a new cartridge in and still have problems.i thought I had this problem once before but not sure what took care of it.Thanks for any insights.

      I have had a less common problem. There are normally multiple lines though, They look like a "Venetian Blind effect."
      The problem is in the Power supply board. It's possible it is just beginning to go out. Not sure if this helps but that's all I have if you have ruled out the toner and the fuser.

          If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

              Have you taken a look at the laser unit? It may not be getting quite up to speed as printing starts.

                  I think these lasers write black, not white, so you would get white bands, not black ones if it were the laser.

                      Found this in my archive (I am a digital packrat) points to what Phil was talking about, also says to check the contacts on the hvt board as Wild Bill suggests

                          Sorry about not getting back sooner,I went to machine today and replaced transfer roller and cleaned contacts.
                          The problem is still there,only happens periodically,may not happen at all one day and 5Xs another day.
                          This is an example which I hope helps.

                              Look at 20 year tech's bulletin. It looks exactly like your sample. =^..^=

                                  pull the HVPS AND Reseat it .. if that doesn't fix it try new HVPS
