[Error Code] HP Enterprise MFP M527 Initilization screen After Firmware upgrade

Dear Techs

This printer had hard disk failure ,after replacing the the new hard disk 500gb SeaGate and firmware upgrade(Version:ljM527_fw_2308214_000905.zip)succesfully through a walkup thumb drive the initialization screen continuous and printer won't come up to ready state.


if anyone came across this before or your kind help would be highly appropriated getting it fixed.

From the Firmware Readme:

"The elapsed time for an update depends on the I/O transfer time as well as the time that ittakes for the printer to reinitialize. The I/O transfer time depend on the speed of the hostcomputer sending the update and the I/O method (USB or network).The re-initialization time will depend on the specific hardware configuration of the printer,such as the number of EIO devices installed, the presence of external paper handlingdevices, and the amount of memory installed. Finally, any print jobs ahead of thefirmware job in the queue will be printed before the update is processed."

It should not take more than 20 minutes to complete tho...

have let it continue today for whole day and weird thing is that this thing keeps going on(initializing 25000).

just wondering what could go wrong.

Did it work after you changed the HDD? Did you test it before you installed firmware or just installed firmware before testing that the HHD fixed the problem?> Sounds like the formatter is why I ask.

I replaced the Hard drive(500gb) and it was asking for firmware (error 99:xx:x). also tried to format the hard drive in Administrator tools>Format.
don't have any luck yet.

HP HDD or just a standard 2.5" 500GB HDD? Not sure if it makes any difference, but, it might.

Standerd 2.5'' 500GB Toshiba, actually Tried two HDD's with same result.

I had this problem once. I ended up ordering a new formatter... and that didn't fix it either. I gave up finally.

Had a similar issue on an M4555 that had a finisher attached. I upgraded the firmware and when the unit rebooted, it just hung on the Initializing phase. Turned out the finisher that was attached was set incorrectly in the printer. Begrudgingly, I powered off the printer, removed the finisher and repowered. Luckily, it recovered and successfully completed the update. Once it was back at Ready, I powered the printer off again, plugged the finisher back in and selected the CORRECT finisher.

I know that may not help much as this model can't accept a finisher accessory.

I let it initialize for whole day and it never seems to stop,complete waste of time .

Last ditch......beyond this, I can only suggest ordering the HP drive that was in there (the M527 can use with a standard or encrypted drive).

Go into the Pre-boot menu, Format the disk and try reloading the firmware again.

I could do that but the issue is it will take two weeks to order and get the Original HP HDD client doesn't have any backup printers.

I had a very similar problem with a M4555. Bad HDD. replaced with similar HDD, Formatted in Administrator mode. Loaded Firmware.
Would not fully boot and come to ready state. stuck on booting screen.
My fix was to take the formatter with the new HDD to a different 4555. Installed, powered on, and the display went immediately to updating software <do not power off>.
After booting to ready, I returned The formatter and new HDD to the original device and it operated normally.

I wonder if it's one of those deals where the HD is married to the formatter, and have to be replaced together. Or somehow tricked into thinking they were replaced together.
