[Error Code] MFP M880 - Scan issues

    Hi
Hope someone can help. HP MFP M880 with 30.03.23 Scan Calibration error and intermittent 31.03.34 Background Unit not located.
The calibration error comes up after warm up , I have tried to calibrate scan in the service option but no good. All seems clean etc. I have little experience on HP so help would be good.
    Thanks

You'll probably have to replace the "Integrated Scanning Assembly", but for the life of me, I can't find a part number. It's possible you'll have to replace the whole scanner unit.

I'm wondering if you cleaned the CIS for second side scanning. When you remove the white plate assy from below the original tray, the CIS is located above that opening that you just removed the white plate from. You won't be able to see it, but you can reach inside and clean it with orange solvent or alcohol, then clean the white plate and re-install it. That has worked for me every time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Take note, if you have to replace the whole scanning unit, the control board is separate. Also, make sure you get the right one. It has caught many techs, including myself.

I did not know this. I was basing what I said off my experience with HP as opposed to my experience with this model. So you're saying there's a scanner inside the doc feeder for the duplex? As opposed to turning the page around. If that were the case, replacing the scanner would do nothing for him.

Yes, open the top. Lift the document tray and look at the exit area of the adf. You will see two green fingure grabs on the right and left side. Unclip and pull. As earlier stated I have too seen this come unseated which will cause jams and codes.
