The "support rail"? The tubes "ride" in it.

Yeah, I don't see that as an orderable part.
    yes, that's the part.
Man not order-able eh? OK... then I will have to be creative then if that turns out to be the culprit!

You can try a couple other machines' manuals... I think it would be the same on a Z2100. Maybe a few others.

Or try to bend it straight.

Yes the straighten it thing will be first shot....

I'm trying to imagine here... since the carriage would pivot on the carriage rod, if the channel was lower it would pop the front of the carriage higher right? Like a teeter totter?

That part is just for the tubes to ride in.. it doesn't affect the carriage height. I suppose it could be bent out of shape so much that it's rubbing against the carriage somehow.. or installed incorrectly and causing interference.

The chassis where the carriage rides in the rear would be very difficult to damage, I think.

Also, there should be some play in the carriage; you can tip it up and down, or back and forwards as it pivots on the carriage rail. If it feels tight somewhere along the carriage axis.. I would expect either there's some kind of obstruction or maybe the bushings in the carriage are damaged, or inserted upside down maybe..? I don't remember on that carriage of the bushings can be removed and put in upside down like on the 500/800.

oh ok, so that channel would only affect if it's pressing when it shouldn't...
            Dang...
I'll check the play in the carriage, that's something at least to check, thanks!

I don't know why this only happened on half the page, but it turned to be the bearing, somehow it came unattached so basically wasn't even 'there', weird! But now it works great, thanks for all the help to everyone!

the carriage bearing, edit 'bushing' (even though it's not really a bearing, guess I should have said bushing), it just clips on the top back of the carriage so it slides nicely in it's track and also sets the printhead height by bringing the back of the carriage down, thus pivoting it so the heads raise higher.

I used this fast easy method to check and fix (skip to about 2:22)

That bushing was Kiran's first suggestion.

yes, that's what prompted me to check that the next time I was able to get to the customer, without his suggestion, I'd probably still be pulling my hair out.
So a thousand thanks to him!
