Same Z3200 yet again.. any thoughts?

I think this printer has a gremlin or someone cursed it (voodoo?!!).

    August
kept saying reseat print heads, restart or printhead replacement imcomplete, restart
customer reseated, cleaned, over and over, then replaced all heads, no help
We replaced the entire carriage and cable assembly
    Issue gone, yay..
Last week, asking to reseat heads again
customer removed all heads, cleaned contacts, restarted and re-inserted heads one at a time as it requested them
    All good, yay
    Yesterday, saying yellow/magenta needs reseated
    cleaned, re-installed, no help
    Replaced head
Now says all heads need re-seated and won't clear even with cleaning and re-inserting

Ever seen one have this perpetual intermitant error, especially with a whole new carriage/cable assembly?

    Ahhhh!

Just out of curiosity, how and with what are they cleaning the contacts with? Alcohol can damage the flex cables. Paper towels or Q-tips can leave fibers behind. Only use clean water and a good cloth or coffee filter to clean the contacts with.

My only thought would be that you're getting bad print heads. If you bought them new, send them back as defective; they have a 1 year warranty. Get new ones until it works correctly.

And although unlikely, it's possible you have another bad carriage.

I think alcohol and q tips actually ....

customer took out the 'new' heads, put a couple older ones in, and then it started working.
man, maybe your right, just a bunch of bad heads. Have you seen this before, where new ones were bad more often then we'd think they should be?

If they put old ones that didn't work before, and now work.. I'd say it's just a connectivity issue; ink on the contacts, etc.

I've had brand new heads and inks be bad right of the box many times. It's very frustrating.

ah ok, I'm not sure if they didn't work before or were just changed 'in case', but that makes sense.
thanks for all the help on all these threads, they should send you a pay check!

I think the most important thing to remember is, always rule out the consumables first before replacing parts. If it takes 3 sets of print heads, so be it.

I had a 5500 once that would hang at the very end of the print head alignment. We tried new print heads. Then a new carriage assembly. Then a new trailing cable. Then a new power supply. Then a new main PCA.

What did it turn out to be? The light magenta ink cartridge. Something wrong with that tiny chip on the ink cartridge was causing the printer to hang during the alignment. We tried it in another 5500, and the same problem occurred. I think I still have that main PCA in stock somewhere.. it was 10+ years ago now. Lost my shirt on that one.

Man that stuff is frustrating, once you change the heads, it 'seems ' like it must be something else, but not always, I'll remember all this, thanks a bunch!

                Hi Guys,

Any help also I have an issue with this HP DJ T7200. Original issue is problem with service station now it was been replaced.
Another issue is the quality of prints is not full or some areas are not printing or light copy and giving complete color.
HP rep told us to replaced all the print heads but issues still same. Any help would be much appreciated

                Thanks,

I recommend starting a new thread. When you replaced the print heads, did it print correctly at first, then the problem resurfaced? A picture or two of your print may help too.
