    Designjet T790ps Initializing 3%

I have a T790ps that initially would not print. Tried to date:

Disconnected from network, ensured no jobs pending, tried internal print. Front panel showed PROCESSING then immediately said "COMPLETE". Nothing printed.

    Update firmware from EWS: FAIL

    Update Firmware from USB: FAIL

    File System Check: Code 08.04:01

Hard Disk Recovery: Code 79:03 (component failed to start) and now stuck at initializing 3%

I don't want to shotgunning parts that aren't going to fix the problem. Has anyone been able to pinpoint this problem?

Sounds like you have a bad hard drive. I'd pull it out and connect it to a PC, see if it's clicking. LPS Computer has replacement drives.

If the drive is OK, it may be corrupt, though I've personally never experienced that. Also while you have the formatter pulled out, test the 3V battery on it. I've seen dead batteries cause odd problems. (On a 4000 the printer would initialize to 99% and sit there forever.)

I got some more information. Try disconnecting the 'snoopy' cable at the electronics module. See if the printer initializes. If it does, you'll have to power off by the rear switch, reconnect the cable and try again. If it hangs at 3% again, you may have a bad touch panel assembly.

I found this post by someone else with the same issue. It turned out to be the interconnect PCA.
