Hello everyone

attended this machine today to perform a firmware upgrade, performed the upgrade successfully, machine rebooted and upon restart it threw up this error

Communication Lost (device <--> control panel..)

i reseated the USB cable at both the control panel and the formatter, reseated the RAM on the formatter and the little 'heart' light is illuminated RED - it looks like i have bricked the machine, anyone seen this before and have a solution?

any assistance is very much appreciated

Try reseating the formatter.

The RED LED indicates the formatter has failed. Maybe just reseating it will jog it.

Are you able to get to the Pre-Boot and reflash the firmware?

nope

i do not get all 3 LEDs lit up and also do not get 1/8 on the screen

I'm guessing you've looked in the SM at the LED indicators section?

It looks like the LED's are different depending on what state the printer is at.

Guys from HP two times in warranty they came to replace control panel on MX880.

thank you guys - knew i had done nothing wrong, though i was surprised at the outcome!

hopefully the client will understand and authorise the replacement control panel & formatter
