    HP M880 temp

I have a few hp m880s that are very temperamental. I will send a job for instance that will sound like it is processing only to find that nothing has printed an then 5 minutes later the job i sent will process. This doesnt happen all the time but enough to have customers log complaints. has anyone else had this issue?

I am running the latest firmware and tried both pcl & ps drivers.

    Thanks

From what I've experienced, this is typically not a printer issue. It's usually an application issue or networking issue or a server issue (printserver?). You can test by connecting a laptop directly to the printer via a crossover cable.

    ....sound like it is processing....
Do you mean the printer starts up like it's going to print, but, never does or what the PC is showing?

      Hi Lance,

yes it, the copier will make the sound as if the job is processing. The job leaves the PC and does not show on the log in the printer. A few minutes later however the job will process.

This is happening on quite a few devices on different networks.

      Thanks

Are you running FutureSmart 3 or 4 firmware?

I'd still see what happens if you connect directly via a crossover cable. That would determine where to go next.

You can try that too. I haven't started using 4 yet (even though it's now up to 4.7). I still think it will be a shock to users as the interface is wildly different than what they were using.
