Re: Anyone successfully clone a Designjet hard drive?
Many years ago the DOS version of Norton Utilities had an option for absolute sector copy. I used it once to recover a drive from a computer that had been damaged by a lightning strike that came in on the phone line through the Modem.

Re: Anyone successfully clone a Designjet hard drive?
philfine, I'll PM you. I have a tool and image for the 800. As mentioned, it's hit or miss using a SSD. I tried a couple and neither would boot, ended up just using a standard 2.5" HD. Remember it has to be PIDE, it's not SATA.

I want to also note, the SSDs I used were mSATA in an adapter to convert it to PIDE. I had two different mSATA drives, and two different adapters, neither of them worked in the 800. One wouldn't boot at all, the other would start to boot and hang before the printer would normally start initializing.

I have a 800PS formatter board giving me a 05:10 - drive is clicking so I'm fairly positive it's bit the proverbial, does the stuff you have apply to this model?Leave a comment:

Re: Anyone successfully clone a Designjet hard drive?
I just spent many hours and $ resurrecting an HP DesignJet 800, and it worked great. For about 24 hours... Hard drive failed. Coming up empty-handed looking for a disk image. I would really appreciate getting a copy of that image if possible!Leave a comment:

Thank you for your help ! It worked with the HD I have. Error is gone!
I will attempt to never lose this image just in case anyone else, or myself, needs it in the future.Leave a comment:
