    CM6040 finisher misalignment issue

Hi guys, newbie posting so go easy

Been to a customer today with an stacking offset issue
As pages of 10 or more sheets become collated 2/3 sheets of the stack become misaligned and as a consequence mis-stapled
The user runs 1000's of these per month
These are almost always 2-sided and high colour coverage on both sides

We had a few spare finishers in the warehouse so swapped with spare but has had no effect

Things I've tried (on old and replacement):
Strip finisher and cleaned all exit and return rollers and cleaned and checked sensors
Adjust the fuser setting to alternate 4 to reduce heat and speed also try light paper setting
Upgrade firmware to latest so both machine and finisher are in sync (52.390.1)
Adjust alignment via dip switch settings on finisher (though I hadn't done this before but found in service manual)

    Things to mention:
All consumables running are genuine but the fuser is at 20% and rollers look slightly wrinkled
Paper being used is Q-connect plain 80gsm which thus far has working fine on a variety of other 6040's and M880's in the field
I no longer have use of CSN so don't have access to the latest updates but have the CPMD (may 2019) and service manual and other useful docs

    In conclusion:
I was thinking of going back in with a new fuser and possibly fresh ream of alternate paper (xerox eco paper)
I do have a document pulled from CSN regarding M880 finisher alignment/adjustment but nothing for 6040
I realise these machines are quite dated now and have been dogged by fuser issues

Any constructive advise more than welcome

first may I say.. thank you for such a concise report on the issue

full color heavy saturation NEEDS higher fuser temp and lower feed speed.

my experience (lots of it) with HP fuser esp the newer ones, IF the roller is wrinkled and with that amount of pages on it... fuser would be 1st in my repair actions.

are they running genuine OEM toners and fusers?

sounds like you are on the right track..
    please keep us updated

Hi phil thanks for the quick response

Yes customer running genuine OEM toners/drums/fuser

Will go back in with fuser and fresh alternate paper and go from there

One other thing to mention machine is at 700K with 600K colour
