    HP DJ Z5400

    helloooo!!!

have a machine which is calling new & full inks 'faulty', check the ink info and the expiry date on the 'faulty' carts is showing as 01/01/1970 12:00am where the others are showing a future date - all inks have a printed expiry date of 2021 and the good inks show that date in the ink info

anyone know of a work-around? can i just change the date in the machine to 1970? is there a firmware fix?

    any tips very much appreciated

    thanks in advance

Don't have a helpful answer for you but tagging in to follow in case a solution is posted. Had the same problem with a different model and never found a solution. Tried new firmware update, new cartridges but nothing helped. Ended up just parting it out.

Found the thread about the same problem I had with a T790:

HP Designjet T790 Faulty ink cartridge message

Might answer some of your questions.

If the cartridges are under warranty (before the date on the cartridge) then return them and get replacements. Always rule out consumables before attempting to fix the printer.

If multiple cartridges have the same issue, then you either have a bad ISS (ink supply station), check it for contamination by ink or other foreign substances; Or you have a bad main PCA which the ISS plugs into.
