    HP 500 42'' DESIGNJET

I had a call to replace a worn carriage drive belt.
Customer told me that his last print was totally blank.
I did the replacement procedure hoping to override the blank prints.
Printheads alignment is cancelled by itself everytime i do the procedure and nothing is printed
from any application, internal prints either! No service code, no other message, it goes to ready.
    What could it be?
    Thanks alot for any input...

I'd say you've got 4 bad printheads then. Replace them first before throwing other parts at it.

Do you mean 4 printheads at the same time? How could it has to be done???
There is no message for a faulty printhead or something.
        Menu says printheads "ok".!!!
        Thanks Kiran, Phil.

It's entirely possible if the printer has been sitting a long time. Get just one (black) and replace it, see if you get black printing.

You can try cleaning them with a damp paper towel (just water.) Strike them into the paper towel and wipe them; if you see two streaks of ink then you're getting something out of them. And the printer has no idea if they're working or not, really. Don't trust what the front panel says.

i've had good luck using Simple Green on the paper towel.. it's organic .. does a pretty good job of busting up any ink from Ricoh - HP - Brother etc.

I let the ports sit on the paper towel for a bit then while still on the towel, squeeze the sides allowing the SG to enter the ports a bit the run purge on the in the printer .. then test prints.

It was printing perfectlly two days ago, color drawings.
Suddenly and during print, it happened, totally blank!

Ok. When you disconnected the trailing cable from the carriage, was it in good condition? No bent fingers? You might want to check it again. I've never had one 'work' but not print due to a bad trailing cable but anything is possible.

Aside from that, I would at least replace the black printhead. Always rule out the consumables first. They're not that expensive.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
No, i didn't see a bad trailing cable.
Of course i will replace printheads first...

It was a faulty yellow printhead. causing the above symptoms.
                      Thanks again!
