    HP scanjet professional 3000

As we don't have scanners dedicated forum think I would ask here. I have this one to blink red light 6 times pause then repeat. Sometimes it will go ready?(green light blink)but as soon as paper is put in it will go to red light sequence again.
I make sure two photosensors are clean and their actuators are not stuck, reseated all connectors to no avail. Can't find what 6 red pause 6 red etc. means. Anyone seen this or similar on other HP scanner?

I can only find instructions on 4 red flashes.......

IssueThe scanner displays a red flashing light on the control panel.

CauseOne of the reasons this issue might occur is when the document feeder hatch is not closed properly.

SolutionTo resolve the issue, follow these steps:
    1. Remove any pages from the document feeder input tray.
    2. Close the document feeder hatch until it snaps into place.
      NOTE:

Make sure to hear a "click" sound when closing the document feeder hatch. The sound indicates the document feeder hatch is closed properly.

HP Scanjet Pro 3000 s2 and Professional 3000 Sheet-feed Scanners - Troubleshooting issues

      Introduction
      Troubleshooting issues

IntroductionThis document provides instructions to resolve issues for Scanjet Pro 3000 and Professional 3000 Sheet-feed scanners.
Some issues are caused due to the sensor flags. A sensor flag is a lever that moves as the paper passes and blocks or unblocks the optical sensor. The black plastic sensor flags for the Scanjet 3000 Sheet-feed scanners are located within the front of the document feeder hatch.

Troubleshooting issuesIf the scanner experiences one of the following issues, click the link to see the cause and solution of the issue.

Unable to detect the paper in the input trayWhen documents are properly loaded in the input tray, the scanner is unable to detect the paper. The HP Easy Scan A paper misfeed has occurred. Check that paper is correctly loaded. Both edge guides should be touching the stack.

CauseThis issue occurs when the sensor flag located next to the separation pad, is not aligned in the center position and is stuck to a side.
Figure : Sensor flag stuck on the left side

SolutionFollow these steps to resolve the issue:
      1. Remove any paper from the document input tray or document feeder.
      2. Close the scanner application, and then turn off the scanner.
      3. Locate the document feeder latch and pull it forward to open the document feeder hatch.
      4. Locate the sensor flag next to the separation pad, and then check to see if the sensor flag lever is stuck to any side.
        NOTE:

The sensor flag lever should be aligned in the center position.
      5. If the sensor flag is stuck, use your finger to slightly push the sensor flag lever to the opposite direction of the stuck position.
Figure : Sensor flag in the correct position
      6. Close the document feeder hatch until it clicks into place, and then turn on the scanner.
        NOTE:

A click sound indicates that the document feeder hatch is closed properly.

Red light blinks four times on the control panelA red light keeps blinking four times on the control panel for Scanjet Pro 3000 s2 Sheet-feed scanner.

CauseOne of the reasons for this issue is when the sensor flag is stuck in the mylar. This sensor flag is located above a white mylar strip. The mylar strip guides the paper through the paper path.
Figure : Sensor stuck in the white mylar

SolutionTo resolve the issue, follow these steps:
      1. Remove any paper from the document input tray or document feeder.
      2. Turn off the scanner.
      3. Locate the document feeder latch and pull it forward to open the document feeder hatch.
      4. Locate the sensor flag above the white mylar, and then check if the sensor flag lever protrudes or is stuck inside the mylar.
      5. If the sensor flag is stuck, do the following:
        1. Use a small screwdriver or ballpoint pen and place it in the space between the sensor flag and the mylar.
        2. Gently press the screwdriver or a ballpoint pen to raise the sensor flag.
If the sensor flag sticks out, gently press and release it, the sensor flag should spring back.

Figure : Raise the sensor flag with a screwdriver
      6. Close the document feeder hatch until it clicks into place, and then turn on the scanner.
        NOTE:

A click sound indicates that the document feeder hatch is closed properly.

Hi Lance15 thank you very much for your input. I found everything but 6 red flashes. User manual is silly least to say. Both actuators are moving happily I dunno for sensors itself but cleaned them carefully with canned air after disassembly. Is there some kind of HP diagnostic software tool to be installed?

          Found this:

HP Scanjet 3000 and 7000 s2 - HP Scanner Tools Utility Maintenance tab

HP Scanner Tools Utility Maintenance tabThe Maintenance tab of the HP Scanner Tools Utility displays the scanner usage, maintenance history, and settings. You can record scanner maintenance and change the setting for maintenance alerts.
For detailed information, see the HP Scanner Tools Utility Help. To open the Help, press the Tools () button on the scanner front panel, and then click Help in the HP Scanner Tools Utility dialog box displayed on your computer.

Not sure if that is of much help. There really isn't much information for scanners. They are pretty much if it breaks and you don't see anything obvious, buy a new one.

So it ended as every cr.ppy product should. Another one bites the dust, another reason to dislike current HP hardware.
