    More dj t2500 problems

Just checking to see what you think. About 2-3 weeks ago I was struggling with this t2500. Finally after replacing The primer pumps & left ink station ( for 27.xx & 93.xx errors ) & a new print head I got it going. Yesterday they called & said there was a printhead problem. When I got there, the message said 'printhead installation not completed'. I was mystified since it's been working and all of a sudden it tells me this. According to the code there's nothing wrong with the p. h. 0x00000. I talked to HP, there's only so much they could tell me without paying. I suppose someone could afford $39, but I don't always have 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do a diagnostic. He alluded to a possible service station or drop detector. Does this sound to be a likely cause ? What other parts could be involved ? I already did a carriage test which it passed. I reseated the ribbon cable & connections as precaution. It doesn't make sense to me that it would flake out. It either works or it doesn't. Besides I think they're on the tipping point of putting another machine in there. I don't know if it's worth it to go to the trouble of a new carriage.

As always, thanks for your opinions.

It's not impossible that you just have a bad printhead. It has a 1 year warranty; I would return it to where you got it for a new one before you start replacing other parts.

Also that message would leave me to believe that the end user attempted to replace the printhead themselves. But if the printer rejects it, and it's under warranty, I would replace it first.

Are the ink supplies low? If they are, it won't complete the process unless it knows there's enough ink to do it. I had a T770 with the same problem. Traded out one of the low ink cartridges for a used one that was half full and it completed the printhead intall just fine. And it doesn't have to be the corresponding color of the replaced printhead. So if you replaced the black/yellow printhead and cyan cart was low, it still won't finish the installation process. Anyway, that was my experience. If the customer did indeed replace a printhead and the ink was low it could cause this problem. Just something else to check.

In that case, like Kiran said, I'd replace the printhead next.

EDIT: I just looked back at your original post and see what you did before. I'm backing out of this thread because I can't add anything helpful. Sorry.

Always rule out the consumables before replacing other parts. Is the service station a huge mess? If it is it might be time to replace it, and that includes the drop detect. You can clean the drop detect sensor.. just wad up a damp paper towel and stuff it in the slot, work it around. How does the bottom (nozzles) of the printhead look? Is it clean or is it caked with ink? That's another sign the service station needs to be replaced.
