    HP M578 with line down page with ADF only, not the glass

    Hello, getting a line down the page when using the ADF Document Feeder for copying but not the glass.
    Has anyone had this happen before?
    It is clean and I cleaned it very carefully (the white plate and glass area).
    I am not sure if it is an LED light that is burned out or not.
    Please help if possible.

      Sometimes a dot can be so small, you think you cleaned it but it's still there somehow. With all those folds of plastic, something could get stuck in there. The scanner beds are usually closed up pretty well, but there could be a fluke speck of something in there. When it copies. can you see if a light is out ? A ribbon cable may need reseating, or the element itself is failing. Unfortunately HP only sells the whole adf unit instead of individual parts.

          100% on there is still a speck SOMEwhere on the slit glass. If copies are fine from the glass, but, not the ADF, the scanner is fine. MANY times I've had to clean, clean and reclean the slit glass because I just didn't hit the spot where the spot of something is.

          Then again, it could possibly be a tiny nick in the slit glass too.
