This seems to my week of desktop HP printer problems. This time it's an HP M452 color printer with under 1000 prints on it. Getting intermittent horizontal black bands on it. I have a M477 right next to it which uses the same toner and is working fine, so I tried swapping toners but that didn't help, the problem is specific to the printer. Doesn't do it every time, and sometimes is just a couple of fine horizontal lines. Anyone seen this on either the M452 or M477?

It looks like laser to me. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I was wondering that also, but I've never seen one so intermittent like this before. Some prints look perfect, some have thin lines, some have bands, and a couple were nearly totally black. Anytime I've had a weird copy quality before it was always due to an aftemarket toner, but this has genuine and they work well in a different machine so it's not that. These aren't the easiest machines to take apart, not like swapping a laser on an old HP 4100.Comment

What color are the lines / Bands
If it looks mixed then stop a print job and the line may be caused by the ITBIzzyComment
