I've been asked to "look at" an M476DN - I managed to get a test print out, deduced the magenta toner/image unit needs replacing, due to the image repeating. Printed off the supplies list - K is at 70%, C is 20%, M is 20% and Y is 100%, none of them appear to be genuine. It then had a 10.1000 toner error, which I cleared by taking out all of the cartridges and rebooting it. I left it plugged in for about an hour, before going back to it. Now it comes to ready, I can access all menus, but it won't print any internal reports, if I try to do a copy, it'll scan the original, but then both toner and drum motors turn for about 15 seconds, then they stop, and then they start up again, after about 5 seconds, and will keep doing this until I either switch off, or unplug it. The same happens with internal reports. No errors appear on the screen. Just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar. I don't normally look at HP printers, I primarily repair KM devices. I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this.....

i would start by fitting new toner carts, after which strip the machine and look for lever type solenoids (usually used in paper feed mechanisms, but also used in dev drive) these lever solenoids have a strip of foam to stop them being noisy, the foam gets sticky, the lever sticks in the open position and machine timing goes out the window - simply remove the lever and clean it, then place sticky tape over the foam - image attached
