HP 4000 Poor Transfer on envelope

I have a law firm with multiple HP 4000N. The one in question has faded print (transfer) only on envelopes. Another 4000N on site can print same envelopes fine. Looks like there is no way to adjust Tray 1 paper type on this model or increase fuser temp. I bumped the density to +5. I replaced cartridge. I also have a PM kit on order. They don't print envelopes often so I don't know how old this issue is, although they claim it worked at one time. Print jobs originate from Word in the envelope template, they seem to travel through the printer at the correct speed.

Any tips on this would be appreciated.

Re: HP 4000 Poor Transfer on envelope

In my experiences with the HP 4000 or any model in that series, ( 4200,4250, 4300,4350, etc.) has always wanted to leave a light double image especially on linen envelopes with heavy fonts. On the later series I would put tray 1 envelope into a high fuser mode setting and try to lighten up the transfer voltage. But, like you stated, I do not think the 4000 has that mode, so I would look at the fuser as the cause. I also have noticed on those series that as the fuser wears it has a tendency to transpose the heaver font on to the envelopes.

I just tripped over this yesterday:

In the PAPER HANDLING MODE > CONFIGURE FUSER MODE > set to YES
Now you'll see media type selections.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

This is promising, although I could see/change media type for tray 2. But no option to change media type tray 1 (bypass). Is this what you saw as well?

What I saw was a page in a manual. I will be interested in what you see. =^..^=

Arrived with a maintenance kit. Just thing I tried was the transfer roller. Noticed it was the fuzzy style vs the rubber style in the machine. And that was the fix. Made a world of difference.
