Scan to folder issues

Our I.T. guy has been pulling his hair out. Desktop, e576 and 2-3 others, but similar.
Scan pops up and says file path does not exist.
Most are at firmware version 5.3.0.1
He called HP support, said 5.4 was out, but when I checked HP wise, 5.3.0.1 was all I found.

Any suggestions? He's starting to get a bit bald.

Can he get to the folder using a PC?
If so it could be a firmware issue as MS discontinued SMB 1.0

FS 5.4 seems to be available among all models I have checked. Please confirm with FULL model numbers you are needing.
