    T520 Carriage Jam

When setting up the print head moves to the left in the ink cartridge fill area, it is as if it hits the stop and tries to keep going left a short gear grind sound then this Jam message, the ink door can be shut without moving the carriage then it will move. I have dismantled and see no apparent broken parts. Carriage Jam.jpg

Clean the encoder strip. Only use a damp paper towel or coffee filter. Do not use a solvent or alcohol, just water.

If that doesn't do it, enter the support menus, and under diagnostics is a Carriage Servo test. If this fails it should tell you whether it's the carriage motor or the carriage assembly. (42.1:10 is the motor, 02:10 is the carriage.)

Ive replaced a few carriage belt tensioners that have had the small pin going trough the roller getting unevenly worn. Se part CQ890-60088.
