Designjet 800PS 79:04

Good morning and thanks in advance for any help.

I have a designjet 800PS, rather old printer that's done me well for so many years.

Unfortunately I've had a number of issues with it lately when sending documents to the print queue. I have replaced the hard drive in the formatter card which seems to have helped to at least print however when i send multiple documents to the queue I'm getting an error 79:04.

As I said, the hard drive was replaced, but if it's only happening when queuing documents does one think I may need to replace the whole formatter card?

You might try re-seating the RAM on the formatter, or remove it and test. Or it could be you have another bad hard drive. You could connect it to a PC and run a sector scan on it to see.

79:04 means something went wrong that the printer doesn't have a specific error code for, so it's kind of a matter of trial and error.

You can also try sending the job as a bitmap (make the PC do the rip process) by a setting in the driver. Go to the Printing Preferences, then the Services tab, click the troubleshooting button, and turn on Send Job as Bitmap. See the attached image. This is using the Windows 7 64 bit driver on Windows 10.

PM me. All I have is the 800/800ps (it's the same image.) I'm not sure I've ever seen the HD for the 500, but it did exist.
