Hi all.
I have a large account, where they have a single M577 (along with multiple M477s and a variety of other desktop single- and multi-function devices as well as floor-standing MFPs of a different manufacturer; they just HAD to have a desktop color MFP at this location at this speed). Machine has been in place about 5 years, not much need for service in that time frame.
Recently I was called for jamming out of Tray 2. Machine does not have any accessory trays, just the main tray and the bypass. Checked to make sure that the paper was loaded correctly and that the guides were in the correct position. The paper tray lifts and stops where it is supposed to. So, the paper is at the rollers, but never goes anywhere, so the machine registers 13.B2.D2 jam. I did also change both the feed and separation roller assemblies, still the same thing happens. It sounds like it's trying to engage the feed rollers/grab the paper, but no movement on the top sheet of paper.
It reminded me of solenoid issues on other models; coworkers concur. I called HP Support, and was told that this model does not utilize a solenoid for Tray 2, but there's a clutch that comes with the paper pickup assembly (which looks like a complete bear to replace, looking at the steps in the service manual, but that's beside the point). The paper pickup assembly arrived; however, there's no clutch, no solenoid. Just a gear that probably meshes with the paper pickup drive. There is a wire that goes to a sensor that would be toward the front of the machine. Nothing else on this assembly
Oh, tray 1/bypass tray works just fine.
Am I missing something?
