    HP M653 repeat image

    Hi

Has anyone ever seen an issue like the attached document my customer sent me? I've seen repeat images many times on copiers caused by fusers, transfer belt, etc but not sure with printer. It's not that old. What is weird is how the repeated print is smaller & different color than the actual print.
I haven't looked at it yet but because it's far from my office I wanted to have some ideas or parts before I go out.

    Thanks in advance

A Printer works approximately the same in the theory of print formation even with color. Copier may have a bit more sophistication in generating the print process electronically, but the components used to produce the final out put mechanically is almost the same. So, you can use the same methods of troubleshooting to see where the faults lies.

First thing I would do with color machines is run the calibration that is on the menu. Sometimes this is all it takes. Second, do the half way stop test, that is stop the print, before the paper reaches the fuser unit, that will eliminate if the fuser is involved. If, no joy, then remove all the drum/dev and inspect all items, including the transfer belt for any damage ect. Then reassemble everything and do an internal test print. In fact the internal test print should be run before disassembly, so you can compare results as you go along. Also f/w , and any bulletins may need to be looked at.

Most of the time, it is either , calibration has not been run, or drum/dev/transfer roller bad. You have to develop your own method of checking for each. Yes, the art of troubleshooting color is very interesting to me, as it is different in deciphering which culprit is causing the misery.

edit. Also try to see if you can set the machine to print in monochrome only, this way you can eliminate a lot of items quick. Then you can move on to the color drum/devs ect.
