HP Designjet T795 79.2:04 error on boot.

    Hi Everyone!

I hope you can point me down the correct path. I have an HP T795 printer that gives the dreaded generic error, 79.2:04 on boot. The front panel doesnt allow me to enter diagnostics. It just goes past the point where all the lights turn on when I should be able to go to the diag menu.

I have replaced the Interconnect board but it didnt change anything. I did this because it controls the display and buttons and I cant do anything with the buttons. On/off with button or Diag menu do not work.

I have tried to update the firmware via USB but the machine hangs. Ive left it overnight just in case it was a long rebuild....nope, just stuck.

The last piece of info is the status lights on the formatter are 1 Flashing , 2 On, 3 On.

I've looked through previous posts to see if this has been addressed before but nothing is like this one. I have read that print heads can cause this but this error seems too early in the boot process for that. All signs point to the Interconnect but Ive replaced it. Where next? PCA, HD?

Thanks for any and all assistance!

If the error occurs that early on, I would suspect the hard drive or even the power supply.

The formatter lights suggest the interconnect board. If you've replaced it, I would make sure none of the ribbon cables to the EMOD have been damaged by putting the cover on and pinching them.
