    Hp 3600n color printer prints in Megenta and calibrates for 30 minutes on power up

    I am at my rose end on fixing a HP 3600n color lazer printer. I have put new HP cartridges in the printer still outputs only on the megenta color. This printer had less than 20 prints run through it since new. Someone broke the lever to the EBT and I replaced that component. I have made sure the connectors are all seated well. I don't want to spend a lot of money on this old relic but this has been a challenge to say the least. Tonight I removed the laser assembly and it was clean nothing obstructing the lens. I got a error indicating that the yellow cartridge needed replacing, I did that with a new HP cartridge. It does not give this error everytime. The printer wants to go into a calibration that last 30 minutes. I don't think that is right either. I don't have any spare boards to exchange. I am open for any suggestions on which element is faulty. How do you trouble shoot the laser assembly? Thanks for giving this your time. R. Hopkins (rhopkins1951@gmail.com

      Haven't worked on one of these in a loooooong time, but, I remember they suffered from broken parts which misaligned the main drive assembly.

      Check these parts to see if they are broken:

      RC1-6636 - Left Lever Lock
      RC1-6638 - Left Slide Cam
      RC1-6643 / Q5982-67925 - Cartridge Lock Kit - Q5982-67925 Cartridge Lock Kit & RC1-6643 & Instructions HP 3600 3800 CP3505 | eBay

      Check the timing gears on the main drive to make sure they are properly aligned.

          I found a piece of the left lever lock laying inside the printer. Thanks for the tip bet this is the issue causing the problem. Thanks again for the part number also, have a great day!
