    [Misc] Designjet T1700 disk

I got a user with an error 0045-0008-0102 that seems to be the disk, I saw that there is a note about swapping the disk between machines:
"Replace the Hard disk with one that has been used in another printer, use the 0001-04 E-box - Rest HDD to be removed diagnostic in that printer."

The end user has 2 machines so i could thest this, but does anyone know if its possible to clone the disk at this point ?
Also on some errors there is an mention about reimage the disk, is this done with the hard disk recovery utility in the service menu ? and also is this possible to do to a plain blank 500gb hdd?

I couldnt find the spare part available 1VD88-67003 at my spare parts distributor and couldnt find it at hp either as Both partsurfer and hp parts seems to be down for me at the moment.

You're on the right track. To use the drive from another printer you must use the Reset HDD function in the diagnostics menu which resets the NVM values found on the HD, so another printer will treat it as new. You can not put a used drive that isn't reset in another printer, it won't work.

As far as cloning it, I'm sure it can be done but I've not tried it myself. I don't see it listed at HP either. Seems to be a rare item, even LPS doesn't sell one. I did find one on ebay.

If I were to try it, I'd use Macrium Reflect and set it to use a sector by sector copy, see if it can clone it to another drive.

I stumbled across this thread while looking for replacement drives for a busted T1700 that our store has.
I had the same question, wondering if it is possible to use a regular slim 2.5 sata drive?
Sorry to revive an old thread but were you able to clone the drive?
We only have the one plotter and it wont even boot to the point where I can use the reset HDD function.
