Does anyone know how to get out of demo mode with the HP 4000 series printers? This mode is for store displays so the customers can print demo pages. The info is not in the service manual and Cold Reset does not reset it.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!". -
What have you been doing, prntrfxr, trying out all the buttons?
So you're saying that customers can store images on the DIMM for later retrieval? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have not heard of this on a 4000, does it have a eprom in one of the slots?
If a cold reset did not work I would suspect a demo eprom.
Just a thought, let me know.

yeah ... well its a tech buddy of mine. He had a customer printer that was a demo model originally (they got it cheap). They've been using the thing for years but its always had the word demo in the display and options to print several different demo pages from the menu. He said it wasn't critical, but you know I've never had this before and it really bugs me when I can't figure something out. (It's a perfectionist thing, I can't explain it) I'll mention what you said Rob, maybe we'll find the answer someday. I found info for HP 5, which is to press and hold GO and SELECT at the same time while powering up. We're going to try that and see if it works. I'll keep you updated.Last edited by prntrfxr; 04-28-2009, 01:10 PM.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment
