I have a HP 5500 that the heater won't come on. I checked the V on the main PCB and have about 36v to ground on both pins. I assume that it uses ground switching. When the print starts there is no change in the voltage readings. Is there anything besides the main board that controls the heater? Any ideas on whats wrong other than the main board. Any thoughts would be helpful. Also I ohmed out the heater and got about 12 ohms. They use a rip but I made sure the heater was enabled. Thanks Jeff

Is the printer showing any errors?
Why do you suspect the fuser (heater)?
Follow Paul's advise and get a service manual for this printer.
If the fuser is bad the manual will be needed for replacement.

I have one on my table right now. As soon as I bleed the air out of the tubes I should be ready to print. I can take a look and see if I notice anything, but it may be Monday before I get to it.The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen HawkingComment
