I am finding that if I don't replace fuser drive gear at the same time as swing plate that its chewing up black swing plate gear again in 6 months. Anyone else seeing this problem?

Whenever I've ordered this they've sent a fuser gear with it as well. And seen one site that offers a metal swing plate gear to replace the black one that is supposed to last a lot longer.

If your fuser has recently been replaced, you shouldn't need a fuser gear. If it's chewed up, of course, you will have to replace it. If you have a fuser with a chewed up gear, I would recommend replacing the fuser from a manufacturer that replaces the pressure roller bushings. I believe that is what causes the problem in the first place. Bushings get worn, causing movement of pressure roller, causing warbling of fuser gear, damage to black swing plate gear, and over time damage to white swing plate gear. Additionally, when you replace the swing plate asm, examine the main drive gear that drives the swing plate. Some clients have had the black gear replaced over and over and no one has changed out the entire swing plate. After a long period of time, damage can occur to the white gear and sometimes even the main drive gear asm.

The white gear should be replace, but i suggest the entire swing plate assy. He is a solution or a mod to install a metal gear in place of the black gear and the fuser gear. see

After the black gear has been replaced a couple of times, the white ones need to be replaced also as it gets worn after many milage. This is a great printer and you would not find many other faults with it. firmware though as wilth all HPs should be updated if you are have error codes. Here is an excellent replace procedure for doing the entire swing plate assy.
