HP CM2320 fxi having trouble receiving faxes

I have a customer that purchased a HP CM2320fxi from me and at first all seemed well but after a week or so my customer called a said that they were not receiving faxes from certain places. Upon further investigation the problem was intermittent at best. The fax line is dedicated and can not hear any noise on the line. I put an old Brother 4100 in place to see if the problems continued but the brother fax is working just fine. My tech call HP since it was still under warranty they came out and replaced the fax board and formatter board along with making sure the firmware was up dated. Tested for a couple of days and problem returned. Customer and i have been trying to reach HP (almost daily for going on three weeks) but HP will not call back.

I have also turned off ECM and and lowered the speed to V.17

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Tech Geek,

Make sure you are using a 2 pin phone cable (standard phone cables are 4).
MY suggestion would be to throw a DSL line filter on your fax line, this almost always resolves my intermittent fax issues (Plus it is a CHEAP solution)! You can also try lowering the speed to the slowest setting.

I see similar issues with our copier faxes though not on this model since we dont sell them. I agree with the use of only 2 wire phone/fax cables....but you may need not a dsl filter but a line filter. We use ones with a ferite core on them that we order from Sharp. I can get you the part number if you want, but theyre like $40. You can also get em at Radio Shack or Frys if you have one near by. If your gettting errors, especially from different types of machines constistantly, I would say this is the fix. A dirty line signal will mess up faxing alot more often then bad settings. Todays fax machines can adapt and run in a multimode sensing state. If I was betting money Id say this will fix it.

I have a similiar problem, SND fax causes machine to do a PWR reset, on fax RCV it locks up and only a PWR off/on clears the fax. The fax activity log shows about half the SND/RCV end in "Power Fail" Result. Copy and Print seems to be OK. Any Ideas?

In future, try "translate.google.com" so that the rest of us have an idea of what you are saying. My French is real rusty. This is what your message translated to:

"Hello everyone, I also have a client who now has two cm2320mfp that reboot and start fax reception in 8 minutes and then reboot.

200 copies and almost new HP warranty calls. The latest firmware does not change. The three different speeds either.

Thank you for the info cables 2 files.

The first looks back at the carrier hp.

The second card formatter card and fax from the client because no good hp or other intervention.

I'll let you know, see you soon."
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
